  17. <p>    Yiah! The diminutive kung-fu student attacked the Steinway
  18. hands on. Aleksei Sultanov, 19, of the Soviet Union powered his way
  19. to first prize at the eighth Van Cliburn International Piano
  20. Competition in Fort Worth last week, a jumping-off point to a
  21. potentially lucrative concert career. The Muscovite's style had
  22. more force than finesse, and he was equally resonant about his goal
  23. in entering the contest. "I preferred to get first prize or no
  24. prize at all," he proclaimed. Yiah!
